Fast approaching is another lovely Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom! It also happens to be the last one until August so I reckon, even more of an excuse to take a short break or holiday and make optimum use of a free day off.
By the end of May, the weather is most certainly getting warmer and in recent years especially, the Lake District has experienced simply stunningly hot weather around this time.
Just remember, after the Spring Bank Holiday in May, its a wait until August for another, that’s 3 month! With the county and National Park often experiencing dry, bright weather during May into June, the Lake District and Cumbria should be THE destination of choice for a late May getaway.
Many hotels including those in the hot spots of Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere still have availability and some great offers for 3 night breaks too. Windermere is an excellent destination, centrally located for exploring but plenty to do should the typical British and Lake District weather get hold.
There is a huge amount going on this spring bank holiday weekend in and around Windermere including events and sightseeing at nearby Coniston and Ambleside. And of course there’s always a cruise up and down Lake Windermere and the 365 day a year attraction the fells open for walking. Our accommodation tip is Applegarth Villa HOtel & Restaurant in the centre of Windemrere with views, private hot tubs and free off road parking.
